It is true that the chip that will revolutionize consoles has already been released, the AMD ZEN 5 with an energy saving of more than 40% compared to ZEN 4, which is essential in a handheld console just as the heating is greatly reduced, improving and avoiding thermal throttling which occurs on a chip with Intel as is the case with the MSI Claw.
For me currently the ASUS ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and the Steam Deck, the latter being one of my favorites for its quality/price

A rather silly article for sure. Why?

Nobody on earth actually NEED's a gaming device (least of course your PAID JOB requires one, then whoever you work FOR likely is providing it).

So purchase early or late in product cycle?

For those that wish to be on the 'bleeding edge' and have $$$ burning a hole in their pocket/wallet early purchase MIGHT give you a longer period before your device is obsolete.

For those that want to save $$$ ether watching for discounts OR waiting for vendors to clear OBS stock to make room for the new models is in order. You may not get the 'best' performance however often can save a bundle.

The inbuilt problem with ALL the WIN powered devices is just that - they are WIN powered!! The sooner MS lets a gaming OS into the wild the better as the BLOATWARE that is Window's is surely not needed or wanted on a handheld device.

Being WIN powered DOES allow the device owner to use EVERYONE's 'store' to purchase content. (something that any 'xboxOS' as well as 'steamOS' would be lacking)

Between staunch discounts, plentiful competition, and the recent release of the Steam Deck OLED, there has never been a better time to buy a gaming handheld. However, imminent new releases for the Asus ROG Ally, Nintendo Switch, and new CPU offerings from AMD and Intel mean that waiting just a little longer may be a better option for those looking for maximum performance.
