RTX Studio will kick-off a new generation of super-sleek professional laptops that are expected to appeal to younger CAD users and digital artists who may not want the thick and visually anemic ThinkPad, Precision, or ZBook laptops of old.

Nah, they'll be fine. People who aren't gonna encounter the massive throttling of these new Facebook machines aren't always THAT productive anyway, and those who need muscle and stamina in their apparatus, I'm sure, will stick to the "classic" workstations.

I don't think so. Not one of those laptops tick all the boxes wanted for creators. These features are needed for most people in 3d animation and other business:

- Numpad
- SD card reader (full size not microSD)
- Thunderbolt 3
- Webcam on top (for videoconferences)
- DC charger not on the right (to use mouse comfortably)
- 90 WHr, 6-Cell Battery

So simple yet difficult to find. The only 2 laptops that comply with everything are the Dell G7 (hopefully soon with OLED), and the Lenovo Thinkpad P53 / P73. And there are already rumour of the G7 throttling, so...

For individual sales, maaaaaaaybe. For company sales, not a chance. Any large company will most likely have agreements with one of the Big 3 and exclusively buys from them across the company. Big companies aren't going to try to play around and see if Asus or Acer can give them the support that the Big 3 do.

The biggest issue I see is that for the longest time they've shipped systems with terrible displays (72% sRGB gamut anyone?), and regardless of how powerful the GPU was/is, that's useless for serious color work. This will come back to bite them in the a** if they don't offer better displays across the workstation range (down to the Precision 3000 series and equivalent budget machines by HP/Lenovo)

I'm assuming this is partially why Lenovo upgraded the display choices on the X1 Extreme Gen 2 (and will likely carry over to the P1 Gen 2), as they now include Pantone X-Rite calibration, 100% Adobe gamut coverage, etc, and there are more choices than the 1st gen (1st gen was limited to FHD 90ish% sRGB , or 4K 100% sRGB Touch).

The new Dell Precisions are no slouches when it comes to size. I just got a slew of Precision 7530s with Quadros in them and they're surprisingly thin, light, and well-made.  They're much thinner and lighter than my personal MSI GT60.

They may have been beefy beasts in the past, but it's not the case now.

Didn't realize this was the result of the Studio project.

The RTX5000 has the same TDP as RTX2080MQ, and that runs totally fine on say Blade 15.

eheheh... the GPU does, they're icebergs, whether Pascal, Turing or even Volta ------ compared to THE CPU. Good luck trying to sustain the beasts without undervolting :) It was possible in ~2013-2015 by using a thick chassis, it's possible nowadays with a well planned out cooling system... that not too many vendors give a feck about :P
