There was a recent review of the Y730 15 that stated the Thunderbolt 3 port was 2-lane instead of 4-lane. Can you confirm the lane width of the Thunderbolt 3 port?

either way, it's a big step away from shitty design that's spread all over the place in recent years. gj lenovo.
I would certainly prefer 4 cores and a 1050 gpu for less noise/heat, more battery. and ryzen for the market balance :) but lisa su said fuk you customer.

Right now used gaming laptops from the past 2 years with 1060 and 7700/6700HQ go for around $600-700 USD. In 2018 a $1,100 price tag most certainly calls for an i7-8750H and a full GTX 1060.

Seems like Lenovo's got their head up in the clouds.

1200$ for 1050ti and average 60Hz slow response IPS is mind blowing.

I strongly disagree with "professional look", one can not bring this thing into office. It is too gaming even without rbg lighting.

Lenovo are you mad? Why buy that? Value per money tends to zero.

Does the 15 inch version equipped with the same screen? Because all the reviews that I am reading put the display with at least 94% srgb coverage. But since yours is the 17 inch, perhaps there is a difference?
I like to game a little bit but my main concern is a laptop that has a good colour coverage and accuracy for my graphic design work.

Lenovo advertises 72% gamut according to the above specifications page.
Manufacturers' 72% NTSC claims are in paper supposed to be 100% sRGB, but in practice actually between 85-95% sRGB. False advertising but not much we can do.

So regardless of varying panel suppliers you can be assured knowing at least 85% sRGB is guaranteed for both 60 and 144Hz FHD IPS.

Brightness is another common thing OEMs don't live up to their ads. And contrast isn't mentioned at all in the specs, meaning it must be poor, as disclosed in this review.

Also bear in mind most laptop displays are not factory calibrated unless the manufacturer advertises it as a feature, e.g. Gigabyte and Aorus gaming laptops.

The review actually speaks good things about the contrast and 72% NTSC is doable for work even though is not perfect. Here in Canada they only have the 60hz panel.
Perhaps this is not the laptop that I am looking for.

The worst thing about this laptop is the NOISE! There is no possibility to adjust the cooling profiles: (
10-15% of the CPU load is enough to make you an unpleasant person for the office

Really excited/looking forward for the review of the just released Lenovo Legion Y740 17"!

It brings the new RTX2060-2070-2080! even these are being controversial, they ensure much GPU power than the GTX1050Ti.

When could we expect a review of this unit? hopefully with RTX2070?

I am at PAX East at the moment and spoke with the Lenovo product manager. He claims the 17" Y730 is 4-lane. I intend to use my next machine for external media capture / eGPU for content creation. If I purchase this I'll report back my findings.

There is not a 17" Y730 model on the floor today so I can't confirm.
