New leaks reveal that Nvidia's GTX 1180 will support higher refresh rates through one VR-friendly connection, making it possible to render 4K@120 Hz content for each eye, and this would also apply to the TV-sized G-Sync 4K monitors. Price-wise, the GTX 1180 will not match the original launch MSRP of the GTX 1080, as there will be two versions and the most affordable one is supposed to cost US$999.

Those prices are very disturbing. I was preparing myself for $800 but a full $1000 for a single computer part. $1000 could get you entire modern computer setup. They will absolutely be isolating their customers, new and existing, at this price.

What about a potential $200 discount if you own an existing NVIDIA card with proof of purchase? It would aid with brand loyalty instead of feeling like a stab in the back to charge their existing customers so much to keep being loyal. These prices will absolutely, positively be a contentious topic. Mark my words.

It's important to note that the TweakTown estimate is just that, an estimate; they claim no insider knowledge. Moreover, it is based on the assumption that Nvidia will price the 1180 to not complete with the present 1080 line instead of as a new product line.

I've always been a bleeding edge enthusiast level consumer whether it's the latest TI or a step down SLI configuration and I've always been big green. If they seriously give their own customers this big of a middle finger I will never buy another Nvidia product. This is why it's horrible for everyone that AMD can't put up real competition. Time for Intel to get serious about graphics because I feel like I've just been betrayed for being a loyal green customer ever since the GeForce 256. Especially when I've been steering my own customers to green for over 15 years

I've recommended Nvidia for years, but I don't anymore since the cop out announcement of "a very long time" as their reason for not releasing a new card. I want them to admit to the reason or reasons, in order for me to trust them. Their reply was antagonizing and rude mocking to it's customers and it had made me consider AND or Intel for the rest of my life. They keep baiting us, then slap us. Not cool Nvidia. all they had to do is say something like the chip prices for RAM prices are currently too high or they have to wait for a hardware manufacturer equipment they require or they're waiting for a certain technology to come out in order to make their cards the Improvement everyone is expecting them to be. any of those reasons are perfectly valid but saying just it'll be a very long time is the meanest reply possible. >:(

He would not lie like that. If people buy current parts based on his statement that the new cards are a long time from now, then he faces potential lawsuits from them.
Stop with these leaks, cuz they aren't real.

Okay, the idiot from Tweaktown didn't have a source when he speculated a $999 and $1499 price point. HE GUESSED! What did he base this GUESS off of?? He said something like, "If the 1180 is faster than the 1080ti, it has to be more expensive. Otherwise why would people buy the 1080ti!"

When has a new series from nVidia EVER competed with the past series?? Answer: NEVER! It won't compete, it will replace. It won't be more expensive than the 1080ti, it will be similar in price to the 1080. ONCE THE 1180 RELEASES NVIDIA WILL DISCONTINUE THE 1080TI!!!

The two versions of the 1180 will also most likely be the 1180 and 1180ti. Why change something that works?

Jeez everyone chill out, that price probably won't happen. It was just a guess based off of nothing

Mobds

So you're telling us that 8GB GDDR6 would cost around $500? How did you figure/believe someone those absurd prices? Please stop spreading bullshit, we're swimming in an ocean of crap on the internet anyway...

I read at least 20 articles about 1180/2080 this year, guess what? They are all fucking wrong!  In March, they say 1180 would be released in May. In June, they say it would released in August. Let's be honest, the cryptocurrecny is not going away any time soon, GPU price will not come down soon. There is absolutely no reason for Nvidia to upgrade the current product line, so we may not have a new gpu until next year. If you want to upgrade, just buy a 1080 ti already. Because master Jensen said "a long time"
