Starter gamer. Asus has made its inexpensive FX series even more affordable by reducing the battery capacity, GPU power, and number of ports. The end result is definitely easier on the wallet, but the TN display and primary HDD drag down the system.

Now that's just bizarre... A 25W PL2 limit on an H-series chip? For starters why is this seemingly overriding PL1, and secondly, why the hell is it only drawing 28W with just prime95? With that kind of arbitrary limiting, they might as well have used KBL-R CPUs with a TDP up.

Main reason why the CPU has slower performance is because of the single channel memory config onboard the laptop, limiting what could potentially be fastr than the 7th gen i7s...

Thanks for long awaited review!

How 4x3.1Ghz 6700HQ can outperform mighty 4x3.9Ghz 8300H? I don't get it.

It is some cooling related problem? Can good cooling pad unleash true potential of FX504GD 8300H?

Would love to see the review of this model with the i7-8750H and the IPS panel.

There should be an updated BIOS available. My FX504GE with the i7-8750H was really slow with Cinebench, after a BIOS update it ran as fast as any i7-8750H has been reviewed in this website.
Keep up the good work, NC!

Siiiggghhhhh, like i said it is the single channel memory config that is slowing the laptop down due to limited memory bandwidth..... ::) ::) ::)

Sounds like this laptop was getting power limit throttle on CPU, Jarrod'sTech mentioned it and his latest video on FX504 gaming laptop.

Basically can't get full CPU performance due to power limit of 25W like commenter Sukhoi noted :(

oh no, i would buy this laptop to my sister which wanted to render video with adobe premiere pro.
So in this PC, the 8300h is useless ? It seem to be a 8250u, so why they putted a 8300h if you can't use it à 100% power ?
Too bad... want should i do so ? Find another one with 8300h or maybe go for the 8250u cheaper?

I am using this laptop for more than 2 yrs now and i was palying games a lot recent days and experienced thermal throttle a lot, so i bought noctua nh1 thermal paste and replaced it with the normal one for more than 6 months it was okay my editing was good but for dew days i am noticing that my cpu temp is going at 88-91 C (not getting any stutter in game even at 88C) at just 3GHz where as here for the same laptop its showing 76C at 3.6GHz.

I was undervolting it because of thermal throttle of offset value -135.7mv
if you have undervolted share the values ill try if it may help
