I think reviewing monitors is a great idea, especially if samples can be acquired easily or are already on hand. It's unbelievable how difficult it is to find reliable and objective (i.e. actual measurements and not just "picture appears good") information about most monitors - especially lower-end ones. It would be awesome if NBC could round up a bunch of affordable yet decent FHD screens (such as Dell S2240L, Asus ML238H and so on) and do a comparison article.
