Low-power Strix Halo APU specs and performance leak: 8x Zen 5 cores and more than 25% iGPU bump vs Radeon 890M

Serial leaker Moore's Law Is Dead has leaked details regarding the specs and performance of the low-power Strix Halo variant, the Strix Halo LP. Also termed "Halo 128-bit", the Strix Halo LP APU allegedly enjoys eight full Zen 5 cores and an iGPU that can rival the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Max-Q in performance.

Being 128bit it will barely perform any better than 890M. It will be bandwidth starved and power starved. Product makes no sense. Even full Halo will struggle on 256bit with only LPDDR5X 8533 to feed 40CU's and 16 cpu cores. Wel already see that 890M despite 33% more cores than 790M is only about 10-15% faster at best.

Not the best timing for this product. Radeon 890M is already slower RTX 3050. So even if LP strix halo matches or slightly beats the RTX 3050, it will be :

a) launching / completing with RTX 5050 (let's assume this delivers RTX 4060 performance)

b) the RTX 4050 which has been out for some time now and is everywhere, is a huge upgrade from rtx 3050. Like 2x the performance. Similar to rtx 3060.

It will be bandwidth starved and power starved.

Supposedly it should come with 16 MB of infinity cache which should help but yeah still not ideal.

This comparison makes it seem a lot worse in terms of efficiency when you consider that this is a 105w part and  switch orin soc is like 5w-20w part? Granted switch will be much lower clocked / tdp than full powered rtx 3050 so won't perform near as well. But still doesn't seem to put amds recent offerings / architectures (rDNA 3 / 3.5) in good light.

Hoping rdna 4 is solid uplift just based on what we're seeing off ps5 pro. But Ive a feeling people are correct when they say AMD really only takes graphics seriously when there's a major multiple console platform launch. So rdna2 and next one likely UDNA in 2027..

Isn't it saying the LP strix is entry level? While 890M is top Ryzen AI 9 apus. If it can achieve 3050 performance at much lower power and a low budget, it is more than fine. igpus aren't aimed at taking down latest dgpus, even if they did pretty much kill the low end dgpu market.

It is the flagship Halo Strix that "maybe" comparable to the RTX 5050.
