With the launch of Snapdragon X series processors, Qualcomm introduced a new wave of ARM chips for Windows systems. A recent report suggested that MediaTek, in collaboration with Nvidia, also plans to enter this market with its AI ARM CPU, and now, a new report claims that the new chip will launch early next year.

BUT what OS will run on it.  Unless you're in bed with Microsoft, or Huawei/Apple already making your own PC OS, it's stupid to develop an ARM PC CPU with no OS actually supporting it!

Humm...

This COULD BE the much awaited ARM+Nvidia APU that could run WIN-on-ARM with the net result being devices that can play Windows games.

(while we all are assuming that Nintendo's Switch2 might have a similar but less powerful APU)

Then again it might simply be another waste of time+energy+resources.

IMHO: new products need to bring something to the table in ether:

- it is better than what was available before <or>
- it is at least competitive with what is available NOW

otherwise instead of a 'hit' we have a 'miss' along with the often mentioned 'just wait for our next generation...' nonsense we constantly hear from some OEM's.

Really, let me give you a guess, it starts with a Windows and ends in 11.

Let's see:

Windows 11
Android
ChromeOS
Linux
HarmonyOS (possibly)

Didn't Microsoft say that Win on ARM will only run on Qualcomm and that all other ARM CPU makers are screwed?  I fail to see how a non-Qualcomm company will find success in the ARM PC space unless they're Huawei/Apple with own PC ecosystem.

As long as 50% of software is not running correctly on Windows 11 for ARM, I wouldn't recommend an ARM computer. Until now it still looks even worse than using Linux on Intel/AMD.

Second part of your post completely discredits opinion in the first part btw.

People who are dailying only browser and Excel require "100%" of software to be ported before they switch. Okay, probably can't browse internet because <put some niche software name here> is not ported yet.
