Spotify Premium to become more expensive once again and be supplemented by a basic subscription for $10.99

Shortly after Tidal reduced the price of its "HiFi Plus" subscription to $10.99 per month, Spotify Premium is to become more expensive once again, thus costing more than Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music and the like for the first time. However, a new subscription structure should allow users to keep the old price as long as they can do without audio books.

I simply want a lossless audio tier or atleast have it built in to premium & for those of you saying you can't hear the difference except from a DAC, I beg to differ, you can hear a small difference already from a decent pair of Amazon earphones/headphones, not a lot but a little. If they will be more expensive they better build that feature in.

How can you generate more than $14b and loose nearly half a billion.

Someone is getting paid a lot more than the artists.

Couldn't care less about audiobooks (or podcasts); the only thing that matters to me when it comes to streaming is music, with an extensive library, nice playlists/algorithm for discovering new music, excellent sound quality, a proper user interface and proper support to the artists.
Tidal is offering all of that and the new, reduced pricing makes it an absolute steal for me. Their algorithm has also improved a lot over the past years and I've been happily using Tidal as my primary source for music playback for years now, together with my own collection of physical media 😊
Might re-think when Spotify ever releases their "Suppremium" (which they have been promising for years now). Until then it's bye bye Spotify for me.

I'm too old to be actively interested in music. But once a year on New Year's Eve, just for fun, I download Top100-200 albums based on the recommendations of about 10-20 music-related sites. Free, from trackers in lossless format.

I erase 99% of what I downloaded. Every year because they are all trash on a musical level.

The classics have a separate position, but there is rarely anything that changes much for the better and does not require updating.

It's clearly fake paper losses paired with exorbitant executive compensation, they're behaving just like the sports industry and they're just taking their press releases at have value rather than questioning the big company

I'm still waiting for a subscription that allows multiple streams per account at the same time so that my Alexa doesn't stop playing when my wife starts Spotify in her car. Like the family subscription but with one account.

I've been with Spotify for a good possible 10 years roughly. I also have Amazon music and several years ago I had the free trial Tidal. I have been waiting for Spotify to get a high-quality of music. I wasn't happy with the extra dollar increase but I digress. I don't pay for HULU something Spotify bundled for me a few years back. So if another dollar is added to the price and I have high-quality sounding music from them my ears will be happy with my ear buds and my Bluetooth speaker. I notice the volume difference between Amazon and Spotify music and of course the quality.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. You need the family account so your wife can have her own account.
