On the positive side, the HP 17 offers a Core-i3 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB SSD. In addition, the notebook belongs to a dying breed that still has an optical drive on board. A Windows operating system is not included.

1. hp 17 line has plenty of good screens. 300 nits, 60/90 srgb/argb. hp 17-by0000 has it also. screen is an advantage over vivobooks, not other way around, as people might think.
2. amd version of hp 17 is clearly better. in all aspects.
3. stop testing single channel memory if there is a modification with dual channel, buy it for your tests, or add a second module. you are misleading your readers.
4. maintenance is not difficult.
5. since when 1y warranty is a con for a 500 gold laptop? did i miss something?
6. stop making multiple conclusions about one piece. dim-bad..but matte-good..but colors..bad..so on.

This panel is a total junk.
HD+ for 17" panel??? Really???

+ heavy PWM (which should be added to cons in summary review)
250 Hz   ≤ 80 % brightness setting
Souch panels should be forbidden to manufacture

the whole idea of this hp17 lineup is to get a good screen for a little money. it has been the same for years. cheapest 300+ nits, 60/90 argb/srgb. these are the numbers you can find in a much pricier machines and very rarely in ~600usd range.

screen is too dim, no reason to lower the brightness below 100%. thus no pwm :)

It seems to be much better than my HP laptop from 2 years ago which says something. I even have to have the ATI card disabled and working only with intel card...
