Apple's new iPhone SE might have some serious chops at its price point, but it isn't all great news. A China Telecom listing shows it is fitted with a small 1,821 mAh battery and just 3 GB of RAM.

The screen is MUCH smaller than flagships. The resolution is again low. So that reduction in battery is ok. I don't think apple didn't tested this device before launching it.

The fact it is waterproof and has wireless charging, WiFi6, etc. more than compensates for the "smaller" battery and "less" RAM. It is just like iPhone 8 but at much more competitive price point, and that is darn good already!

So overall a pointless article and no news here...

This is a completely pointless article with a sensationalized headline... Of course it's going to have worse specs,  but they're damn good for that price point.

Article is factually incorrect at places. iPhone 8 did not have 3 GB RAM, it had 2 GB RAM. 8 Plus had 3 GB of RAM. This is the first iPhone where 3 GB of RAM is put into that body. Though exciting, it may pose to be an issue with this phone.

The battery of 1821 mAh may not be enough for the 3 GB RAM powered iPhone. Till now, the minimum battery capacity for a 3 GB RAM iPhone is  2658 mAh (in iPhone Xs). Obviously, the lower screen resolution in case of iPhone SE 2020 may be helpful, but the 800 mAh battery size difference is huge.

The battery is certainly interesting, no matter the justification a smaller screen could afford, but there's no doubt this is the phone with the most future proof performance in this segment.

Is there any reliable source stating that the battery capacity is 1821mAh?

China Telekom is mentioned as a source in this article. Actually China Telekom just removed the info of the battery capacity from their website a few hours ago. They still keep insisting that the new SE has a 3.5mm headphone jack though.
Not convincing.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'm more interested in the Pixel 4a and Xperia 10 II, which will both include a headphone jack! :-)
